1. 4,000 IN UK TRAINED AT TERROR CAMPS

Immigration from Islamic countries poses huge security risks. Yet mainstream parties, committed to change, irreversibly, the social fabric of this country, fail to see that.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/15/nterr215.xml

Up to 4,000 Islamic extremists have attended terrorist training camps in Afghanistan before returning to Britain, security chiefs have revealed. The alarming figure raises fresh questions about UK border controls and the capacity of the intelligence and security services to keep the country safe. It demonstrates how Gordon Brown's plans for tighter checks on people entering Britain, unveiled last week, will come too late to keep out many dangerous individuals. Afghanistan was the centre for al-Qaeda terrorist training between 1996, when the Taliban regime came to power, and the end of 2001, when America and Britain invaded. Since then the focus has shifted to areas of Pakistan along the Afghan border. More than 400,000 journeys are made each year between Britain and Pakistan, the vast majority of them legitimate. It is not known how many travellers continue their journey overland into Afghanistan. A senior security source said of the al-Qaeda camps: "There are 3,000 to 4,000 people who went from the UK to Afghanistan and came back. The important question is, where are they now?" The figure is more than double the estimate of 1,600 which MI5 gave last autumn for the number of individuals actively involved in plotting terrorist attacks in the UK. There are several possible explanations for the gap. Some of those who came back to Britain from Afghanistan may since have given up terrorist activities. Others may have left the UK to fight in Iraq. MI5 and MI6 are working on the assumption, however, that al-Qaeda sees its British Muslim recruits as too valuable to be used in Iraq, and that most are ordered to return to their communities in Britain to establish autonomous terrorist "sleeper cells". Concerns over sleeper cells have been heightened since the failed "doctors' plot" attacks in London and Glasgow two weeks ago. Estimates for the total number of extremists who have received weapons training and religious instruction at al-Qaeda camps, mostly in Afghanistan, have ranged from 20,000 to 70,000. Until now, intelligence sources have said it was impossible to estimate how many of those were British residents. Terrorists who are believed to have trained in Afghanistan include Richard Reid, from Bromley, Kent, and Saajid Badat, from Gloucester, who both jailed for plotting to blow up aircraft with shoe bombs. Andrew Rowe, a Londoner of Jamaican origin serving 15 years for terrorist offences, trained at one such camp in Afghanistan. Dhiren Barot, brought up in London and now serving 30 years for plotting a "dirty bomb" attack in Britain, trained in either Afghanistan or Pakistan. Others believed to have trained in Pakistan include Mohammad Sidique Khan, the leader of the July 7 2005 bombers; Muktar Said Ibrahim, the leader of the failed July 21 bomb plot, and most members of the "Operation Crevice" plot to blow up nightclubs or shopping centres with fertiliser bombs. The Terrorism Act 2006 made it illegal to attend a terrorist training camp. Last week, Ronald K Noble, secretary general of Interpol, accused the Government of failing to check people entering the country against a database of terrorist suspects. Hours after The Sunday Telegraph revealed his criticism, the Prime Minister admitted that the sharing of data between countries needed to be improved "as a matter of urgency". Details have emerged of a classified US intelligence report which says that al-Qaeda has regrouped along the Afghan-Pakistan border and is now in a stronger position that it was before the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York. John Kringen, head of the CIA analysis directorate, said: "We see more training. We see more money. We see more communications. We see that activity rising." Dame Stella Rimington, the former MI5 chief, called last week for stronger border controls. She said: "We have realised that the free movement of people is a great concept but if you have people who would kill you, there have got to be a lot more checks.". Documents discovered at abandoned al-Qaeda camps following the fall of the Taliban revealed how recruits were schooled in the use of small arms, as well as anti-armour and anti-aircraft weapons. Those selected for elite training would learn assassination skills or espionage techniques. Forms and correspondence found at the ruined camps also showed that the operation was carefully-managed with paperwork in various languages including Arabic, Urdu, Tajik, Uzbek and Russian, as well as the locally spoken Pashto language.

2. MUSLIM AMBASSADORS: 'SWEDEN NEEDS TO CHANGE ITS LAWS'

This kind of appeasement carried out by political elites without regard to the wishes of native populations is clearly unacceptable. In Britain, where Muslims are some of the biggest donors to the Labour party, the islamisation process has already started.

Ambassadors from Muslim countries have indicated that they intend to present the Swedish prime minister with a list of demands when they meet for talks on Friday. Fredrik Reinfeldt invited the ambassadors from 20 Muslim countries to government offices on Friday following a wave of protests from Muslim countries after the publication of a caricature of Muhammad in local newspaper Nerikes Allehanda. Reinfeldt's press secretary Oscar Hållén was unable to say which countries had confirmed their attendance. Egyptian ambassador Mohamed Sotouhi told news agency TT that he and a group of fellow ambassadors had agreed on a list of measures Sweden needed to take if it was to secure a long-term solution to the Muhammad cartoon controversy. According to Sotouhi, "comprehensive measures" were required if Sweden was to prevent some "amateur artist" from reawakening tensions every other month. "We want to see action, not just nice words. We have to push for a change in the law," he said. "Muslims need legal protection against the desecration of the Prophet Muhammad, maybe something similar to the protection enjoyed by Jews and homosexuals." While praising the "very constructive steps" taken by Fredrik Reinfeldt, the Egyptian ambassador said that Sweden had much work left to do. "In the long term the school curriculum has to convince pupils that if they want to express their opinion they should do so in such a way that it doesn't cause offence or hurt. This should also be part of journalism training," said Sotouhi. "A permanent parliamentary committee also needs to be established to tackle islamophobia," he added. The ambassador urged Reinfeldt to strive towards "reaching a balance between freedom of speech and taking responsibility to avoid offending Muslims or other religious groups in this society". "Everybody will compare his wisdom with the situation in Denmark, whose prime minister treated the problem with a sort of arrogance, or at least delayed taking action to prevent the problem from escalating," he said. Sotouhi described Sweden as a sophisticated country containing talented and creative diplomats. "They know that proactive measures are necessary and we are ready to cooperate with them," he said. Algeria's ambassador to Sweden, Merzak Bedjaoui, said the meeting "was an excellent initiative taken in a spirit of appeasement." "At our level, we are trying to work hand in hand with Swedish authorities to try to create a real bridge between our communities," he said. "When we speak of a dialogue between civilisations, it can't just be a catchy slogan. I think that the publication of this kind of caricature doesn't help at all," he said. Earlier in the day the Oscar Hållén said that the meeting would form "part of our dialogue with these countries." "We want to emphasize the fact that Muslims and Christians live side by side in Sweden in a spirit of mutual respect," he said. Hållén further added that the government intended to reiterate its earler defence of Swedish laws surrounding freedom of expression.

3. INDIA: MILITANTS ATTACK AMARNATH PILGRIMS

Whatever the multiracial lobbies want us to believe, there is not such a thing as a tolerant Islam. If Muslims will become the majority, they will impose sharia law on us.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2222845.cms

In the second attack on Amarnath pilgrims this week, militants on Saturday threw a grenade at a community kitchen in Pahalgam, injuring at least 10 people, mostly sadhus. The ultras hurled a grenade towards a 'langar' at a Gurudwara near police station Pahalgam, 100 km from Srinagar in Anantnag district of south Kashmir at around 1.10 pm, officials said. The grenade exploded inside the langar area where pilgrims had gathered for their lunch resulting in injuries to eight sadhus, a pilgrim and a driver of state road transport corporation, they said. One pilgrim was killed and several injured in a militant attack on Baltal base camp on Tuesday.

4. CHRISTIAN MINI TRUCK DRIVER BEING FORCED TO CONVERT TO ISLAM IN PAKISTAN

http://www.pakistanchristianpost.com/newsviewsdetails.php?newsid=735

Gulzar Masih, a Christian mini truck driver is allegedly being forced to recite Islamic Holy Kalima (Holy verses used to mark the conversion to Islam) and convert to Islam, by two Muslim men, Khawar Butt and Baatti. The sole wage earner of the family is living under the threat of being executed or tormented viciously by the Muslim men and scared to return to his home. Rays of Development Organization (ROD) fact-finding team visited Gulzar Masih, a 45 years old Christian mini truck driver of Chak (village) # 2, Mandi Bhawaldin, Pakistan. Gulzar Masih told ROD fact-finding team that he had been a professional truck driver for last 20 years at Mandi Bhawaldin. He said that he has his own mini truck. (Toyota Hilux # C .5990 Peshawar). Gulzar Masih said that he had been living and working with other drivers in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere, until they came to know that I am a Christian. Masih said the difficulty started off about 6 months ago, when proprietor of the Ashraf Hotel allegedly asked him not to dine at his hotel, simply because he is a Christian, an untouchable. Gulzar Masih told ROD that on August 15th 2007, two Muslim men, Khawar Butt and Baatti allegedly forced him to utter the Holy Kalima and embrace Islam. While he, along with three other drivers, was relaxing and chatting under the cool shade of trees near the truck stand, Mandi Bhawaldin. Terrified Gulzar Masih alleged that after two days of this incident, he was sitting at the shop of local ironsmith Muhammad Iqbal, when Khawar Butt, Baatti and younger brother of the ironsmith Muhammad Khalid, abused and forced him out of the shop, hurling death threats on him, as he had turned down the imposition of conversion. Masih also said “All these men were my good friends, until they learnt that I am a Christian”. Appallingly poor Gulzar Masih father of Aamir Gulzar 20 and Suneeta student of class 9th said that he is the lone breadwinner of his family. Concerned Gulzar Masih went on saying that this incident has almost spoiled his freight business. Masih told ROD that he desires to live in perfect serenity and accord with other Muslims in the society. He appealed to ROD chairman to liberate him out of this dilemma. ROD chairman Mr Ferhan Mazher was astounded to know the pitiable episode. ROD chairman denounced such threats to the religious minorities of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He also said that the law enforcement agencies and government should take notice of such horrible incidents and Islamic religious radicals. Chief of ROD pressed upon the necessity of tolerance, peace and harmony. He added that followers of all faiths are ought to learn to co-exist peacefully in Pakistan.

5. 'MUSLIM ATTIRE' IRRITATES NON-MUSLIMS SCHOOLGIRLS IN MALAYSIA

http://www.catholic.org/international/international_story.php?id=25256

Stefanus Prayoga Ismu Rahardi felt bad seeing his daughters' discomfort at having to wear the Muslim head covering that conceals a girl or woman's ears, neck and hair, as part of their school attire. "The first time I saw them in jilbab, I could sense they were uncomfortable," the father of three daughters told UCA News Aug. 25. "They did not know how to wear jilbab and got angry," he recalled. "They were irritated." Agustina, his eldest daughter, is studying at a public junior high school. His second daughter, Yashinta, is studying at a public vocational school. Both schools are in Padang, capital of West Sumatra province, 880 kilometers (about 545 miles) northwest of Jakarta. The 44-year-old Catholic recalled that in July, during the first days of the school year, teachers often asked his daughters why they did not wear the head covering to school. "I suggested they wear jilbab," he continued, so they would not have to answer the same question over and over again. But he also advised them to regard it as only "an accessory." "They were in a difficult situation. They had no choice," explained Rahardi, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Padangbaru. The long dress and long-sleeved shirts characteristic of Muslim attire are more decent than the short dresses and short-sleeved shirts generally worn by students in other regions, he admitted. "But personally, I do mind if non-Muslim schoolgirls have to wear jilbab, because it is identified with Islam." Since 2002, almost all 19 districts and towns in the province have put into effect local bylaws (Perda, Indonesian acronym) or decrees by mayors and district heads that stipulate mandatory attire for Muslims. Solok district, for example, issued Perda No. 6/2002. Meanwhile, Limapuluh Kota, Sawahlunto Sijunjung and Agam districts have Perda No. 58/2003, Perda No.2/2003 and Perda No. 6/2005, respectively. Mayor Fauzi Bahar of Padang issued an instruction obliging all Muslim students from the elementary to senior-high levels to wear Muslim attire. Bonifasius Bakti Siregar, a staff member of West Sumatra's directorate general for Catholic Community Guidance, says such requirements have strong psychological affects on non-Muslim schoolgirls, who will look different from most of their classmates if they do not wear Muslim attire. Non-Muslim girls studying at public schools find themselves in a difficult situation, he told UCA News. "They wish they could attend Catholic or Protestant-run schools where they are not obliged to wear jilbab, but these schools do not exist in the rural areas or towns." The Center for Inter-Community Study in Padang conducted a survey April-October 2006 among non-Muslim schoolgirls in six districts and towns whose residents include Muslims and people of other religions. The survey revealed that although bylaws on mandatory Muslim attire apply only to Muslim students, in effect every student is obliged to wear the attire. One respondent was Nova Hungliot Simarmata, a Catholic student of Senior High School II in Pesisir Selatan district. She explained that her school began requiring students to wear Muslim attire in 2005. Wearing jilbab made her uncomfortable. "How do you think it feels for a Catholic like to have to wear jilbab, which is identified with Islam?" she asked. "But I have no choice. I have to obey the rules of my school." The survey reported that Nova and her parents disobeyed the school's rule at first, but a teacher often urged Nova to wear jilbab. "There is nothing wrong with obeying the local government's regulation," the teacher would say. "I felt so irritated when I had to wear jilbab for the first time. It is something very strange to me, " Nova said. "People will think I am a Muslim if I have to wear such attire." According to Netty Anggraini, a Muslim researcher from the center, the survey report disclosed that bylaws on mandatory Muslim attire do not guarantee minority groups' rights. "Non-Muslim students, who make up only a small number, are powerless. They have to obey the regulations if only to make them look the same as the Muslim students," she told UCA News.

6. 5 SENTENCED FOR CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE PREACHING AND PUBLIC ORDER OFFENCES IN ALGERIA

Another news items deliberately ignored by mainstream media.

http://www.elkhabar.com/FrEn/lire.php?ida=80046&idc=52

Five people were sentenced earlier in June for charges related preaching Christian doctrine and public order offences by virtue of the law on the religious practice in Algeria approved by the government in 2006. The sentences vary between one year sentence with no remission and one year suspended sentence with a 5000 AD fine. Public authorities started implementing the legal texts ruling the religious practice in Algeria. Five people are to be tried for Christian doctrine preaching as well as public order offending. Sentences were considered by the indicted as a beach to the freedom of worship established by the constitution and stressed that they were trapped by security services. The press attaché at the religious affairs ministry Mr. Tammine said he didn’t know about the trial, but all those who practice illegally the religious rituals i.e. outside the religious community. The same legal texts are applicable to Salafist Muslim communities. Mr. Tammine recalled the French Monk Philippe Martinez expelled from Algeria because of disturbances he caused as he claimed he was sent by the Christ to “burn Algeria”. He manoeuvred the situation prevailing then to fuel violence in Algeria.
