Dear Mr Bryson,

Thank you for your letter regarding the new initiative being taken with the Kensington & Chelsea Times. It sounds a very worthwhile development, and as the person responsible for pension policy in the Parliamentary Labour Party I very much welcome it.

There is a clear need to develope a public debate about how we ensure a decent level of provision for people in retirement, particularly given the threatening moves being made to cut back welfare spending by the present Government. I very much hope the forum in the local press will get a good response and be successful.
